The Goredale Gravel Challenge

What's your next challenge? At the Rayner Foundation we enjoy and support cycling! Whether you're dreaming to be the next Tour de France winner, or planning an epic multi-day adventure we salute you for sharing our deep love of the sport. Whilst the Etape du Dales was conceived as a road ride in memory of the foundation's namesake, and there's no denying that it is a serious challenge, there are many who relish the challenge of something a little different (including myself as organiser), and so this year we have added a tough and challenging 100km gravel ride to our event rosta.

A GPX file of the route will be sent out to all participants who have confirmed their booking prior to the event. The route can be completed at your own pace, so come and have a go whatever your ability.

Please come equipped with everything you would bring on a solo ride (including a helmet) and be aware that being self-supported means you are your own mechanic for this ride, so, although we all hope it won't happen, be prepared to fix a puncture by the side of the trail or handle anything else that may occur en-route!

The weather can be changeable in the Dales at this time of year, so please dress accordingly to ensure you stay warm and comfortable for the duration of the event. We also recommend bringing a spare set of clothes for travelling home as you may get wet and muddy, but there are warm showers back at the Rugby Club.

Back at the HQ there will be hot food and drinks and and plenty of time to chat bikes, routes and all things adventure with staff and fellow riders.

Tickets will be £40 and all proceeds will be donated to the Rayner Foundation Charity.
